Normandy's Blue Flag Beaches are 15 minutes away from our Normandy base, with the Bayeaux Tapestry; D. Day beaches all within easy reach. The manoir boasts excellent access to all major tourist attractions and routes in Normandy.

The 16th century Norman tower manoir and cottage is river-banked in five acres, surrounded by wildlife in Normandy's beautiful countryside. The River Douve gently meanders through the manoir's five acres of rolling grounds - home to a menagerie of local wildlife together with a charming collection of chickens, ducks, guinea fowl, and our own warm and friendly Border Collie who has taken on the role of Lady of the Manor!
For the 2004 season a large swimming pool with deluxe bathing and secure access has been created for the exclusive use of holiday-makers at out Normandy manoir.
Bed and Breakfast in Normandy
Other facilities available for visitors to our Normandy holiday gites and cottages include the very popular archery, table tennis, basketball, the large football field with nets and of course the boules pitch. On the social front our Normandy BBQ evenings have become very popular, generating requests for more!
Although tucked away from the disturbances of modern-day life, La Mare Chappey is within easy walking distance of the tiny Normandy village of Nehou with its welcoming bar and shop (known for its fresh baguettes and croissants!) and within a few minutes' drive is the beautifully preserved cobbled medieval town of Bricquebec, Normandy.
The town boasts a good selection of shops, supermarkets, bars, restaurants, an historic chateau and bustling Monday-morning market, famous throughout the Normandy region for its diverse range of tantalising fresh produce.
A few minutes in the other direction is Normandy's St-Sauveur-le-Vicomte, which again offers a good range a shops, bars and restaurants, together with its own canoeing centre - perfect for those who like splashing about in water on their holiday! A special cycling and walking route lies just 400 metres away from the Manoir where there was once an old railway line through Normandy.
Some of the most glorious and deserted Blue-Flag beaches on Normandy's Cherbourg Peninsula - including Barneville Plage, Carteret, Surtainville, and Portbail - are within a fifteen minute drive from La Mare Chappey here in Normandy; Many of these offer a wide variety of water-sports activities, bustling marinas, plus the opportunity of a day-trip by ferry to the nearby island of Jersey.
